Natural quartz from India, for buyers in China
Quartz is silica (silicon dioxide, SiO₂), one of the most common minerals in the earth's crust.
It is hard (7 on the Mohs scale), stands heat, and resists almost every chemical. The purer the quartz, the more it is worth: the purest grades become glass, silicon and solar cells. Coast Origin supplies it in three forms, sorted and graded to each buyer's order.

Each form is sorted and graded to the buyer's order. Tell us what your process needs, and we match the grade.
Snow-white and glassy lumps, sorted by colour and purity.
For glass · silicon metal · ferro-siliconQuartz crushed and screened into even sizes.
For engineered stone · ceramics · flooringQuartz ground to a fine flour, to the mesh you need.
For ceramics & glazes · glass · paints · rubberGrades and sizes: lumps from 10 to 300 mm, grits and chips from 0.1 to 10 mm, and powder from 200 to 325 mesh, all to your order.
These are the measurements in a quartz lab report. Coast Origin's own values go here from its reports, and every lot you buy comes with a report of its own.

XRF (X-ray fluorescence) is the standard laboratory test of a mineral's chemistry. In very pure quartz, iron and other traces are measured in parts per million (ppm) by ICP.
You see the results before you buy, not after.
A sample is taken from every lot.
A laboratory measures its chemistry, size and moisture.
The results go into a lab report that carries the lot number.
You get the sample and its report before you order. An independent inspection at loading can be arranged on request.

From a bottle to a solar cell. These are the main industries that buy it.
Container, flat and speciality glass: the purer the quartz, the clearer the glass.
High-purity quartz is the starting point for silicon metal, solar cells and chips.
Lumps are smelted into ferro-silicon, used in making steel.
Silica gives tiles, sanitaryware and glazes their strength and whiteness.
Grits bound with resin become quartz worktops and surfaces.
Heat-resistant sand and bricks for moulds and furnaces.
